Hulk Hogan and Mick Foley, in their own right, are two of the most revered personalities in the wrestling world. However, the dream match between the two legends never materialized. Moreover, Hulk Hogan and Mick Foley once had their spat outside the squared circle. In an old interview with Michael Landsberg, Hulk Hogan was seen berating Mick Foley for not having a strict workout regimen.
Foley then justified his side of the argument stating that the guys he’s worked with in the ring would agree that he was “deceptively” in good shape. In addition, the Hardcore legend claimed that Hogan did have good endurance in the ring to commit to the physicality of wrestling. After all that, Mick Foley looked back on their war of words years later and revealed what really caused their relationship to grow bitter.

Mick Foley was undeniably one of the major attractions of the Attitude Era. And nobody can deny that Foley was as fearless as they come. In a bid to entertain his fans, Foley took unimaginable damage to his body over the years. However, Hulk Hogan clearly wasn’t a fan of Foley’s presentation. In an edition of ‘Foley is Pod’, the Hardcore legend revealed the real reason behind their bad blood. And it’s something trivial.
While speaking on his podcast, Foley explained that Hulk Hogan was upset about his book not prospering in comparison with Foley’s book. The fact that the Hardcore legend’s book was out-performing Hogan’s book, did not seemingly sit well with the latter. He said, “My thoughts, my feeling is that Hulk was promoting his book which is doing a fraction of what my book is doing and he’s probably at a breaking point and he takes it out on me.”
In all fairness, Foley’s Tietam Brown did better than Hulk Hogan’s book. Furthermore, when Michael Landsberg had asked Hogan why he thought Foley, who is much younger than him, hung his boots before he did, Hogan shamed Foley for not having the discipline to stay in shape.
Recalling Hogan’s statement, Foley said that The Hulkster could have pointed out the difference in their style of wrestling rather than shaming him for his physique.
He added, “He could have said ‘Well please if you’ve seen the stuff that Mick does it’s a wonder he’s still it’, he could have taken that in a positive direction instead, he said he worked out more this week than I had in the last five years”.
Hogan’s remarks in the interview caused Foley to thrash the wrestling legend ruthlessly. But despite the heat, Mick Foley has nothing but respect for Hogan’s contribution to wrestling. However, Hulk Hogan’s cold remarks “hurt” Mick Foley’s feelings.
Mick Foley said that he was “hurt” by The Hulkster’s remarks about his body
Further during his podcast, Mick Foley revealed that Hulk Hogan’s comments struck a nerve with him. Foley felt pangs of sorrow when a major attraction like Hulk Hogan criticized him for his appearance. He stated, “It hurt me”.

In his defense, Foley said that he did work out very hard. Though he just did not have the genetics. He said, “First of all I did work out hard you know, I remember Frank Dusick telling me when I was in world-class, he said, the knock on you is that you don’t work out. What I heard is that you work out hard, and you work out smart you just don’t have any genetics”
Even though Mick Foley did not have the genetics, he captivated his fans with his wrestling. It would be a travesty to think that the three-time WWE Champion was not in ring shape during his heyday.
