Mark Henry, 52, is currently mourning the passing of his friend and former WWE superstar Darren Drozdov. He shared a photograph taken by his departed friend with fans and reminisced on the golden moments they spent together. The photograph has a unique story behind it about Henry and Big Show, John Cena‘s first WrestleMania opponent.

The late Darren Drozdov suffered a tragic in-ring accident that rendered him a quadriplegic in 1999. After witnessing life from a wheelchair for the past 24 years, the veteran fighter passed away on Friday morning.

Henry and ‘Droz’ wrestled on a lot of cards together. Their off-screen bond was filled with warmth and respect. The two ‘Attitude Era’ legends had countless memorable moments together. One of their fun discussions revolved around Henry and John Cena’s first WrestleMania opponent, Big Show, tagging together as a team named The Afros.

‘Droz’ had some photos of the former World Heavyweight Champion and Big Show that he shared with Henry. The latter shared the photo on Twitter with the caption, ‘‘He and his caretaker sent me these photos he took of me and Paul. We were talking about being a tag team called the Afros. Just for jokes because that is who he was. RIP!”

Additionally, Henry has also shared how Drozdov continued to be an abundant source of inspiration in his life. Even more so after the latter’s tragic fate.

Mark Henry, who is currently an AEW coach, would have given up on his decorated in-ring career a long time ago. The former weightlifting champion revealed the extent of the wear and tear to his body. He talked about how it got the to point of damaging his nerves.

But Henry’s physical setbacks didn’t weaken his spirit. The legend looked up to his friend Droz, who always looked at the bright side of things. Henry noted, “I’m not saying for a pity party for me; I’m saying that Darren Drozdov is in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, paralyzed from the chest down.”
