He became extremely over with the fans even as a heel. Any heel worth his salt back in the day would feud with Hogan making it a win -win for everyone. However, WWE had to drop the feud because the fans kept chanting for a heel Roberts which didn’t paint Hogan in the best light. Roberts said, “I did fight him twice and but the fans cost me a lot of money because they were chanting, ‘DDT, DDT, DDT’ and that’s not what they wanted man.”

He further claimed, “Because the picture is not how many fans you put in an arena. It’s how much you sell at the merchandising stores and stuff and they didn’t want the crowd split because it’s just bad for business.”

This proved to be a death knell for the Hogan-Roberts feud, because WWE didn’t want an evil heel cheered over a popular babyface and the poster boy of the company. Hence, Roberts missed out on making loads of money due to the fan response towards him and their animosity towards Hogan.
