A few years ago, Hulk Hogan opened up about his music career in an interview with James Arthur Ray. He recalled the reason why he had to take this step to stop pursuing music and enter professional wrestling.
Hogan said, “It was an easy way to scale along for quite a while. That ran its course. I was a huge wrestling fan.” Ray here asked The Hulkster why a music career ran its course?
The WWE Hall of Famer replied, “It ran its course because I was on what they called circuit if you put it that way. After X amount of years, you go back to the same clubs and there will be a very small pay increase, so you wouldn’t (earn) like tons and tons of money.”
He added, “Basically, you are in it for the lifestyle and minimum money to pay your bills even though the band was really good. If you win a national act or if you even have a record break, you’re walking into a certain potential structure.”
In the interview with the motivational speaker, Hogan revealed he played guitar for a long time and avoided other jobs.
The Hulkster met several wrestlers in the clubs while he performed in his band called ‘Ruckus’. It surprised Hogan when he got to know wrestlers maintain a kayfabe. Subsequently, he acquired more knowledge about the business. This is when Hogan thought to pursue wrestling, and the rest is history.
