<span style="font-weight: 400">Hogan was born on August 11, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia. His father, Pietro “Peter” Bollea (1913 - 2001), was a construction foreman of Italian heritage, and his mother, Ruth V., was a homemaker and dance teacher. His older brother, Allan (1947-1986), died at the age of 38 due to a drug overdose. Hogan is of Panamanian, Scottish, and French heritage. As a child, he pitched in Little League Baseball and attended Robinson High School. Before he turned to pro wrestling, Hogan was also a musician, having spent a decade performing fretless bass guitar in many Florida-based rock bands. He went on to attend Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida. However, as his music tours got in the way of his studies, he dropped out of USF.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">Hogan has had a long and decorated career with the WWE. He made his professional wrestling debut in 1977 against Brian Blair in Fort Myers, Florida, for the CWF. Hogan stayed with the CWF for two years before signing with the WWF in 1979. Former NWA World Champion Terry Funk recommended Bollea to WWF president Vincent J. McMahon, who was impressed by his charm and physical presence. McMahon granted Bollea the last name, Hogan.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">During his first tenure with the WWF, Hogan faced wrestlers such as Harry Valdez and Ted DiBiase, and he also began his feud with Andre the Giant.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">In 1980, Hogan debuted in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where he was known as Ichiban or Number 1. Hogan was also a member of All-American Wrestling at the time, and he filmed a few scenes for Rocky 3. against the wishes of McMahon. Most of his early success as a wrestler came from his time with NJPW.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">He returned to the WWF in 1983 after Vincent K. McMahon bought the company from his father. <span style="font-weight: 400">Hogan was a part of some of the most significant moments in WWF history, but his crowning achievement undoubtedly occurred in 1987. Hogan battled Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III. After wrestling Andre for over ten minutes, Hogan slammed the 500-pound wrestler to secure the victory and defend his belt. In addition, Hogan became the first wrestler to win two consecutive Royal Rumble contests in 1990 and 1991.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">The Hulkster had a one-year stint with NJPW once again, which was followed by his debut in the WCW. He faced and defeated Ric Flair in his debut match to become the champion. Hogan would defend the belt for over a year before his reign came to an end in the 1995 Halloween Havoc. 1996 would usher in a new era for Hogan when he formed the New World Order (nWo). With them, he would battle in various tag team matches and even began a feud with fellow member Randy Savage. Till 1999, Hogan won and defended the belt many times. However, controversy soon erupted, and the WCW was demolished in 2001. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">Following its demise, Hogan returned to the WWF in 2002. He returned with the nWo, but the trio would soon collapse at WrestleMania X8. His return would be short-lived, as he had another small stint with NJPW before signing on with TNA. He was set to wrestle, but due to constant injuries, he never made his official appearance in the TNA. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">He once again returned to the WWE in 2005, which saw him inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Hogan did not participate in many matches during his two-year stint with them, but he fought his final fight against Randy Orton in the 2006 SummerSlam.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">The Hulkster then appeared in Memphis Wrestling, followed by another return to TNA. He did not compete in matches initially, but he could not resist the lure of the ring for long. His storyline followed many tangents, including one where he was the owner of the TNA. But 2014 would have him return to the WWE. A racism scandal forced his departure in 2014. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">2018 would have him reinstated in the WWE Hall of Fame. He is currently employed by them and manages a team against Flair. Since then, he has made special appearances, opened major events, and co-hosted with the commentary team.  </span>
