If you’re looking to bring a brand new “Big Time Becks” T-shirt to your wardrobe, there’s bad news for you. WWE has officially cast aside the trademark and there’s slim to no chance of a new shirt loading in the WWE shop. “The Man” just lost her Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan at King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and now her heel moniker has been legally dropped by WWE.

Throughout her long-storied career, Lynch has had plenty of nicknames, each denoting special significance. 10 years ago, Lynch made her NXT debut as the ‘Irish Lass Kicker’. Eventually, she rose to the main roster and got to grab the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion title shortly before turning heel. To validate that anti-hero image, Lynch acclaimed herself as ‘The Man’. Her first-ever WrestleMania win in 2019 prompted her to take up the moniker of Becky 2 Belts when she won the RAW and SmackDown Women’s titles in the main event.

Last but not least, after a taxing post-pregnancy return in 2021 SummerSlam, the name “Big Time Becks” came into existence. Ever since, it has been a parallel identity for the Triple Crown Champion. But Lynch will no longer go by that moniker in WWE after a decision of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board today. It came after WWE filed paperwork to abandon the trademark on May 24.

The company first filed for it in 2021, but it was opposed by James K. Duck. Duck had a trademark on “Big Time” pertaining to professional wrestling registered first in 2007 and renewed in 2018. Duck owns Illinois independent promotion Windy City Pro Wrestling and has used the moniker himself as his in-ring alias.

Public records indicate that legal proceedings over the term were ongoing as recently as April 1, 2024. However, this isn’t the first time a nickname associated with Lynch has garnered attention and has been subject to legal issues.

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair legally protested WWE’s use of “The Man” for Lynch, though Flair would ultimately drop his case.

Although, Lynch last time used the “Big Time Becks” in the SummerSlam 2022 rematch against Bianca Belair, this news will concern fans given the recent update around Lynch’s contract.

As it turns out, the title reign and the trademark aren’t the only things that have come to an end for Lynch lately. Rather, she is reportedly inching to the end of her current WWE contract as well, to the point of no renewal so far.

This has led to speculation and rumors that once she becomes a free agent she may be headed to WWE’s rival AEW.

Is Becky Lynch’s WWE tenure coming to an end?

In the latest edition of the Fightful Wrestling Podcast, it was reported that Lynch will become a free agent on June 1 and that her steel cage title rematch against Liv Morgan could be her last under the current WWE deal. As of the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, Lynch hasn’t signed a new contract with WWE.

It is reported that Lynch may look to take some time off after her current deal runs out before making a decision. As uncertainty surrounds her future, AEW will inevitably feature in the larger picture. Tony Khan is no stranger to making a play for big WWE names and Lynch is as big as they come. Lynch’s new WWE contract may come down to the money factor and it is there where Khan will be ready to barge in.

However, it also reported that WWE remain confident of tying down Lynch to a new deal sooner or later. It is obvious that Triple H might not want to let a top-tier star like her go to their biggest rivals and Lynch has reportedly told people within WWE that she is not going to AEW imminently.

The latest news does provide an interesting twist in this scenario. What’s your take on WWE abandoning the “Big Time Becks” trademark of Becky Lynch? Let us know in the comments.
