There are quite a few things that others claim about WWE. One of the common ones is that pro-wrestling is fake. But, how fake is it?
First, WWE has always portrayed itself as a sports entertainment company. Essentially, this means that most of what pro-wrestling fans see is scripted. This has often resulted in people referring to WWE as ‘not a real sport’.
One of the people who did claim pro-wrestling is fake is American Commentator Joe Rogan. He referred to pro-wrestling as fake considering the wrestlers know what is about to happen.

Vince McMahon had admitted WWE is fake
Back on February 10th, 1989, Vince McMahon admitted that pro-wrestling is fake.
Before this date, pro-wrestling was under the watchful eye of The Athletic State Commission of each state. Hence, there was a tax on the events. Additionally, each state had their own rules, grant licenses to the wrestlers, referees, and so on. This became increasingly frustrating for Vince McMahon, considering the extra expenditure.
Therefore, he admitted wrestling is fake in front of the State of New Jersey Senate to have pro-wrestling removed from regulations imposed by Athletic Commissions. As soon as he admitted that it was fake, the bill passed with a 37 to 1 vote.
This resulted in WWE being able to hold events with whoever they wanted to, celebrities or pro-wrestlers or other athletes, without having to apply for licenses or pay a tax. It even helped other independent promotions to have small scale events without worrying about the taxes and the State Commissions.

But, it’s time to understand that even when a pro-wrestler knows that they’re about to be thrown from a ladder through three tables, the impact is not fake. The innumerable injuries, bloodshed, and constantly being in character takes a toll on their health, both mental and physical.
