There are many things that a wrestler signs up for when joining the WWE. Not being able to do something mentioned in the article finds a wrestler in trouble. But for a legend like Ric Flair, fines and contracts come way later than his legacy. If the 16-time World Champion didn’t want to do something, not even WWE could make him do it.
During his last run with the WWE, the company once asked something of Flair that he didn’t feel comfortable doing. So, the legend firmly stood his ground and denied doing it, for which he was fined an amount of $5,000.

While sitting down with Conrad Thompson, Ric Flair, on his To Be The Man podcast, talked about the fines he had to pay WWE during his last run. Flair first talked about a steroid fine he had to pay, but the other one was more trivial.
Flair reveals the reason for the fine, saying, “I said ‘I’m not taking a picture with the Intercontinental belt’ and so they fined me five thousand dollars. And I told them. ‘When you guys are so starved for talent, that you’ve got to fine a 55-year-old guy for not taking a picture with the Intercontinental belt, you’ve got a developmental problem with talent.”
The Intercontinental reign that Flair is talking about started with him beating Carlito in 2005 at Unforgiven. The then 55-year-old champion kept the title for more than 100 days before losing it to Shelton Benjamin.
How did the Nature Boy help WWE to build its star power?
Regarding Flair’s statement, in WWE’s defense, some of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era had just left wrestling. Both The Rock and Steve Austin left the company, along with the new top star, Brock Lesnar. In addition to that, the company did not book WCW stars properly, which led to a gaping hole in the mid-card and top-card divisions. So, they moved Flair to bring back some star power.

But at the end of it all, he was the one who helped WWE with developing top stars. During that time, Flair was having a renaissance period in his career. Training young superstars like Batista and Randy Orton, Flair enjoyed a tag title run with The Animal. But for this one, he did pose for pictures, so he did not have to pay any fines.
