We execute pranks for fun. However, not all of them have the same conclusion. At times, pranks may go too far for the person they are set up for. When Vince McMahon set up a prank for one of his most valuable wrestlers, it didn’t turn out well for either party. All of this happened in 2011 and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry still remembers the moment freshly, as if it was yesterday.

Chris Van Vliet recently posted a video on his Facebook page interviewing Henry. In the interview, the two are talking about the time McMahon’s prank angered Henry so much that he decided to “quit” WWE.

One of Henry’s popular gimmicks was the ‘Hall of Pain’ angle. It seems like the prank that angered Henry so much started it all. Back in 2011, WWE set up a match for Mark Henry and Sin Cara.

However, the latter never showed up in the arena, and Henry waited too long for him inside the ring. Soon, he realized it was a prank by WWE and it angered Henry because he felt disrespected.

I quit. And you know what man, I probably owe my wife more of an apology and thank you because she was the one that got me to come back to wrestle and go talk to them again because I didn’t have any interest in coming back,” said Henry in the interview. The wrestling legend also credits his wife for having his back and not letting him back out.

After his wife encouraged him to talk to the company regarding how he felt after the prank, Henry followed suit.

After telling McMahon that he was going to quit, Henry’s wife gave him a reality check. After the conversation, when the former CEO of WWE called him, Henry cleared off everything he had in his mind. He told him how he felt disrespected through the prank and wouldn’t want to bear something of a similar sort again. After McMahon realized that Henry didn’t appreciate the prank and it had gone too far for him, he instantly apologized.

Vince McMahon reassured Henry that he has been one of the best assets to the company. Moreover, he also talked about the angry character he possessed inside the ring after realizing someone had pranked him. McMahon sold Mark Henry the idea of an angry giant like himself. This prank eventually gave rise to Henry’s ‘Hall of Pain’ storyline.
