In the Ruthless Aggression era, WWE tried to match the same raw attitude of the Attitude Era. To achieve similar effects, Vince McMahon used to devise the strangest storylines, and one such storyline involved Kurt Angle, Booker T, and his real-life wife Sharmell.

Back in 2005, Angle and Booker were involved in a feud where Angle used to stalk Sharmell. After almost three months, the feud would ultimately end after Booker defeated Angle on an episode of SmackDown.

“That was my most embarrassing storyline of all time,” Angle revealed. “You know how it was for me to do that? I have so much respect for Booker and Sharmell. It was a tough thing to do.”

Totally outlandish. It’s just ridiculous. I did it because I love Vince and that’s what he wanted me to do,” Angle finally revealed. He also said that Jason Jordan was not at ringside with his family for his retirement match at WrestleMania because Jordan is not his real son.

WWE might be ‘bland in the PG Era, but thankfully it stopped Vince McMahon from devising similar weird storylines.

Who is Sharmell?

Sharmell Huffman is a former wrestler, valet, and beauty queen. She first rose to prominence after she won the Miss Black America pageant in 1991. She then went to be a dancer.

Dance would eventually bring her to WCW as a Nitro Girl, where she made some appearances as ‘Paisley’ and ‘Storm.’ She even won her debut match against WWE Hall of Famer Diva, Sunny.

After WWE acquired WCW, Sharmell was offered a developmental contract to be an in-ring talent and interviewer. However, her career was cut short after she sustained an injury in OVW.

Sharmell then debuted under her real name as her husband Booker T’s valet in 2005. They met on WCW and got married in 2005 itself. After Booker won the King of the Ring tournament of 2006, he began referring to himself as “King Booker” and Sharmell as “Queen Sharmell.”
