The Undertaker’s Final Farewell failed to deliver, leaving a multitude of fans disappointed. Given the legacy of the Undertaker in WWE, fans expected a farewell that was much grander and well built. Several WWE legends made appearances during the Survivor Series PPV, but they did not play any role, or said anything on the microphone. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T explains why that happened.

On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T addressed the real reason why the WWE legends did not speak at Survivor Series.
“We were just there to be there for that moment and to be there for the Undertaker. That moment wasn’t for us – it was for the Undertaker. It was his moment.” (H/T 411 Mania)
Booker’s explanation seemed valid, given that everyone knows that Undertaker is a man of few words.
“Anything we would’ve said would’ve overshadowed what he said because we know the Undertaker, and he was never a guy that was gonna talk a whole lot.”
The former WCW Champion even joked about how WWE legends often go on rambling once they get their hands on a microphone. Biggest example- Hillbilly Jim, who rambled on for 35 minutes during his Hall of Fame induction speech.
“One thing you don’t want to do is give a bunch of old wrestlers a microphone. We’d have been out there all night.”
Booker went on to praise the Undertaker for his role in WWE’s success. He even praised him for elevating every single Superstar who stepped into the ring with him.
“But to watch him the way he came up and the way he did it, not just with one guy or two guys. The Undertaker did it with every guy on the roster.”

Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Mick Foley, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, The Godwins, Rikishi, Savio Vega, The Godfather, Booker T, Kane, JBL, Jeff Hardy, Big Show and Shane McMahon appeared before the Deadman could announce his retirement. Vince McMahon provided the introduction and gave a small farewell speech for Taker.
He did so in less than five minutes, which is typical of an Undertaker promo. After he announced his retirement, a familiar, ‘Oh Yeah!’ reverberated around the ThunderDome, as Undertaker knelt and paid tribute to Paul Bearer. The retirement was a beautiful and emotional experience, but it could have been executed better by WWE.
