WWE has a huge promise that they have to fulfill next week at Backlash. They have promised us the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. The people who are expected to deliver on this promise are Edge and the apex predator Randy Orton.

Notwithstanding the greatness of these two men, that’s a promise that’s almost impossible to fulfill. The reasons are simple enough. They have to match up against candidates like Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, and countless other contests.

That’s just talking about matches that have taken place in the WWE. Who can forget the spectacular match between Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega at the Wrestle Kingdom that damaged the rating scale of David Meltzer? No matter how much you love Edge and Orton, you have to agree that even the best matches from their careers don’t hold a candle against the above-mentioned matches.

This might come as a surprise to those fans who were thinking that WWE might just be playing us. They were of the opinion that it might be a five-second squash or a massive interference that begins another major storyline for the company.

As reported by the Wrestling Observer Radio, the WWE has already taped the match between Edge and Randy Orton. The rest of the matches for Backlash haven’t been taped yet. This has reportedly been done to give the two stars the maximum time to create a masterpiece.

The reports say that the match has been finetuned to be great and is also excessively long in length. That might not be a concern as the company has one full week to edit it in the way they want. Needless to say, they have taken this challenge seriously.
