Vince McMahon recently hired Pat McAfee to be a commentator for Friday Night SmackDown. While the news had fans excited, the reaction afterward made headlines.

Everyone who watched the episode definitely observed McAfee’s skills as a commentator. Thankfully for the former NFL punter, almost every reaction has been in his support.

In fact, some fans believe the energy he showcased made him the perfect addition to the episode.

Vince McMahon personally sent a message

Recently, Pat McAfee started trending on Twitter after he revealed that he was “up to something.” Nobody knew what it was. Some guessed it was to do with the NFL, while others thought he may be doing something else altogether. Nobody guessed it would be something to do with WWE.

Finally, it was Vince McMahon who sent a video message to McAfee, declaring that they have hired him for Friday Night SmackDown.

Pat McAfee replaced Corey Graves on the blue brand, who moved to Raw after WWE released Raw commentator Samoa Joe as a part of recent releases.

Considering McAfee’s reputation, there was no doubt he would live up to the hype. He delivered just as expected and ensured the WWE Universe enjoyed every bit of his commenting.

Pat McAfee has made his in-ring debut as well

Apart from his role as a commentator, McAfee was a part of WWE NXT previously. He was a part of the pre-show panel for NXT TakeOver in 2018 and WrestleMania 35.

Moreover, he had a brief feud with Adam Cole on NXT where he made his in-ring debut. Even though he lost the match, the debut is considered as one of the best till date.

In his second in-ring appearance, Pat teamed up with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch and went up against The Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in December. Unfortunately, they did not win against The Undisputed Era.
