Ever since AEW fired CM Punk, wrestling fans have been endlessly speculating and wishing for his WWE return. This could be because they didn’t want the wrestler to leave the Stamford-based company in the first place. But this speculation and the reports surrounding the same have been constantly going back and forth, not stabilizing whether he would actually return. And now, a former wrestling personality has spoken about the same.

Seeing the hot debate coming in from every direction, Eric Bischoff couldn’t avoid giving his opinions on the rumors of CM Punk rejoining WWE. Even though Bischoff doesn’t work for the promotion anymore, he still praised its success, saying they don’t need Punk at all.

Since Bischoff doesn’t work for the top wrestling promotion anymore, he does not have clear information about their affairs. However, having a good amount of exposure in the television and wrestling business, his point of view on Punk’s return is valid enough.

As a co-host of the 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff sat down for a new episode. During the show, the two hosts acknowledged how WWE fans have been speculating on CM Punk’s return ever since he was fired from AEW. However, Bischoff doesn’t believe this would happen.

One [reason], just because logically WWE doesn’t need him. Their business is strong. They’re selling out everywhere they go for TV. Their finances are, each time they present them, they’re records. So I don’t know where the need would be,” said the former WWE employee.

He also dismissed the rumors of Punk’s appearance at Survivor Series ’23 in Chicago soon, taking the same reasons into account.

Now that he has mentioned this about Punk, other rumors regarding the former WWE champion also make sense. If you are someone who was looking forward to his WWE return, you might want to brace for impact.

Amongst his return rumors, CM Punk teased the possibility of going back to AEW instead of WWE. Tony Khan’s promotion is currently cooking up a gimmick of a mysterious masked man. Although not much is revealed about who could be behind the mask, some speculate it to be the Chicago-based wrestler.

The prime reason behind the same is the cryptic message he posted on his Instagram account. On his story, he posted a picture of Ric Flair in his mask gimmick in WCW. Punk also posed his followers with a question about who the wrestler behind the mask is. This might be a hint that he is the wrestler waiting to be revealed in AEW yet again.
