He said, “Funny comedy is rare. I know how to do it. But I also know when to be serious as well. And that’s why a couple weeks ago when I was on commentary, MJF attacked me. We let them know it wasn’t going to be a finger poke of doom.”

Jericho continued, “And then when we had the match, it was very serious until the finish, which you kind of have to do, that sort of Eddie Guerrero finish for where we’re going. My feuds always have heat. They always have a beginning, middle, and end, and it’s always planned out accordingly. Sometimes you might just have to wait, but isn’t that what good storytelling is?”

“In order to encapsulate and have a story, there has to be ups and downs, and the original idea, the original connection with MJF and I is the comedic element because we’re very similar characters,” said Jericho. “But don’t think this is going to be a Doink and Dink finish. There’s a lot more to it behind that. And the idea, once again, is to make everybody a bigger star coming out of it than they did going in.”

The leader of the Inner Circle talked his confidence in comedy and also fire some shots at WWE’s comedy.

“I’ve never been afraid of taking chances for these things because I’m really confident that if we commit to it and be smart about it. Also, my view of comedy is you always play it straight.

“WWE comedy is d**k and fart jokes. That’s why a lot of it doesn’t work.” said Jericho. “Don’t try and be funny. Because when you try and be funny, it’s never funny. And that’s been my attitude with all these segments.”

Chris Jericho is a thirty-year veteran for a reason, and this interview highlights the fact again. There is so much though that goes into each segment and when it comes to comedy, it gets even tougher. So far, the Le Dinner Debonair, Mimosa Mayhem or Las Vegas Trip haven’t disappointed. Let’s see what’s next in Le Champion’s comedy bag.
