Vince McMahon is more than just the corporate head of WWE. He is heavily involved in the creative process of his live TV shows. Moreover, he also envisions and molds a character that appears in WWE. Vince has had a lot of success with this, as he has given some legendary characters to WWE and pop culture.

One character that he plays himself is the overarching villainous boss of the show. Moreover, his daughter Stephanie McMahon also has a similar authoritative persona. Together The McMahons have served as authority figures in WWE storylines for years.

However, now on WWE TV, there is a new face of authority. WWE Superstar Sonya Deville now plays the role of the general manager.

Sonya Deville recently appeared in an interview on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, where she revealed how Vince McMahon sees her new character in WWE.

Sonya said, “I’ve gotten a lot of what I do from Stephanie [McMahon]. Looking back on the old Stephanie stuff, I think that is Vince’s kind of vision for me, a Stephanie-esque character. When I do get in the ring, it’s like yeah I […] get in the ring as an authority figure.”

“I will use my power how I see fit and how I can to my advantage and I’ll enjoy doing it because that’s how Steph does and that’s how Vince did. I’ve taken a lot of notes from both of their past work for sure.(h/t Cultaholic)

It is interesting that Vince is involved in molding Sonya’s character. Furthermore, Sonya, in turn, takes inspiration from Vince’s character. Sonya has given a great performance as the heel authority figure till now and has also wrestled a few matches in the middle.

How involved is Vince McMahon backstage?

Vince McMahon is a legend in every sense of the term. He is a self-made billionaire who has a monopoly over the pro-wrestling industry. Under Vince’s guidance, WWE has become a global entity that keeps on getting bigger. However, he is not just a corporate entity. One reason WWE is so successful is maybe that The Chairman is involved in almost every decision.

From time to time, stories come out of how Vince is very involved with the creative department backstage. Moreover, Vince changes things in the scripts that he thinks will not work. His decisions over the years have received mixed reactions, but no one can deny he has achieved great success doing things his way.
