Did WWE's blunder ruin what could have been an epic showdown between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins?

Seth Rollins was almost the new World Heavyweight Champion; he made sure his opponent did not kick out, but the referee opted not to count to three even though Damien Priest’s shoulder was down. This was a massive blunder on the Money in The Bank pay-per-view, and it appears that it is still being addressed in some of the podcasts, and the true cause for this botch may ultimately be revealed.

This was one of the subjects discussed in the most recent edition of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, and it appears that no one in the ring was to be blamed for this massive botch. The WWE production staff backstage is the reason behind the mishap; they were meant to do something, but they failed to execute it, resulting in Seth Rollins winning the bout indirectly.

The true intention was that when the referee was on two, Drew McIntyre’s theme song would play as he walked down the ramp to cash in. The WWE production staff was unable to complete it in time, so the referee had to pause the count and make it appear to be a defective pin. Furthermore, it appears that Chris Van did not consider these blunders to be big flaws, as he remarked during his response that if you are live, these things happen.

Chris Van stated in his Insight podcast, “But as I understand it, it was supposed to be Drew’s music hitting coming out and his music still didn’t hit. It just hit a little bit late. And mistakes happen. This is live television. Mistakes happen. Not everything’s always going to be perfect.”

Despite the mishap, there is no denying that Seth Rollins ended up losing the bout and he might have to pay a heavy price for the same.

What’s next for Seth Rollins in the world championship picture?

Seth Rollins stated that if he loses the bout, he will not confront Damien Priest again until he is champion. Although Rollins was not engaged in the match’s conclusion, it appeared that the stipulation was implied, since he would now be unable to compete in the main event scene for quite some time.

However, the champion eliminated this condition at the next Raw. Damien Priest revealed during a backstage segment that he would like to face Seth Rollins again someday, and that The Revolutionary, even if he lost the bout, still can challenge for the World championship. Gunther is now the current challenger after winning King of the Ring, but Rollins may soon join the world title picture.
