In a shocking turn of events, Renee Young, who is a distinguished special contributor on WWE Smackdown, has tested positive for COVID19.
This news has come in the midst of reports of multiple positive cases at the Performance Center in Florida. Renee was a frequent contributor on Friday Night Smackdown, in her role as a sportscaster and host, interviewing multiple fighters backstage.
Most notably, Young is also the host of WWE Backstage with CM Punk. However, the show has reportedly been shelved due to poor ratings and logistical concerns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Renee expressed her frustration on the sudden insurge of bad news in her life.

Several reports have surfaced, regarding multiple positive cases of the Coronavirus within the Performance Center. This includes staff and in-ring talent also.
The first COVID scare for the WWE came up earlier in the lockdown, with a single employee testing positive. The only employee with the virus had recovered soon after, and returned to the WWE.
Renee Young part of a COVID19 Breakout in WWE?
Renee testing positive has huge ramifications for the WWE. For one, a part of Young’s job is to go around and speak to numerous performers, managers and employees at the live tapings.
Interacting with a large number of people is essentially a part of her job description.

Hence, it is extremely shocking to hear the news that she has tested positive. Now, not only Young, but almost all of the individuals, performers, staff members, and executives she has met are at risk of contracting the virus.

AEW Superstar Jon Moxley, who is married to Renee Young may have also ontracted the virus. Moxley has chosen to sit out of the AEW Dynamite show, and his presence at AEW Fyter Fest is also doubtful at this point.

Moxley’s official reason for sitting out was that he was in contact with somebody who was in contact with an infected individual. It is unclear at this point if Renee transmitted the virus to her husband, or if her husband transmitted it to her.
Whatever may be the case, there may be a breakout in the WWE Performance Center, potentially jeopardizing any future tapings. Stay tuned to this space for updates on the situation.
