The last time fans saw Johnson on WWE TV was in October 2019, when he shared a promo with Becky Lynch. Thus, it has been almost four years since his last appearance.

Many fans had started losing hope of ever seeing him inside the WWE ring, especially after the rumors of him appearing at WrestleMania 39 gathered momentum only to fall flat at the end.

Johnson flattens Austin Theory on SmackDown

In the opening segment of today’s Friday Night SmackDown, he interrupted Austin Theory – who had interrupted Pat McAfee minutes before – and humiliated the former United States Champion first with his words, then with a spine buster followed by his iconic finishing move, The People’s Elbow.

The Rock was introduced by Pat McAfee and the roof went off the Ball Arena once The Great One’s iconic music hit. On social media, fans had a similar reaction.
