One of the most awaited events for this week apart from the NFL Super Bowl has to be the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Event. Many stars such as Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, Roman Reigns, Dwayne Johnson, & Cody Rhodes were going to be present there. Apart from this, excitement was at an all-time high.  The biggest decision was to be made today. The decision as to who will be facing Roman Reigns at the WrestleMania 40. And it looks like the old Rock is back as Johnson was seen in a familiar avatar today.

Dwayne Johnson goes back to the Attitude Era

During the press conference, Johnson called out the fans of Cody Rhodes as “cry babies.” The main reason behind it is all the chants that have been doing the rounds over the internet and live events supporting The American Nightmare. When Johnson walked to the stage, he welcomed his fans and the media present while throwing a jab at Rhodes’s fans.

Since it was announced at the 02/02 SmackDown that Johnson will be challenging Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, fans have been left angry. They have hijacked every social media platform there is to show their support for Rhodes and call out Johnson for stealing his WrestleMania spot.

Many fans rejoiced as they felt that The Rock from the Attitude Era was back. He showed the snarky side of his along with a hint of his heel persona.

While many thought the line was something he said while being in the character, there could be another possible behind doing so.

Why did he call fans crybaby?

On the o2/02 episode of SmackDown, fans witnessed Rhodes stepping down so that Johnson could challenge Reigns at the WrestleMania 40. However, this was not received by the fans. As soon as the episode ended, social media was flooded with hashtags in support of the American Nightmare. However, things went a bit too far when Johnson’s daughter, Simone Johnson a.k.a Ava Raine claimed that she had received death threats on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

This prompted the NXT General Manager to delete her account on the social media platform. Apart from that, another star, Sami Zayn faced backlash from the fans. The Raw star tweeted stating that while fans are invested in the drama, they should not forget the real-life tragedies happening around us.
