The question as to who the Ring General should face at WrestleMania 40 is doing rounds and there have been quite a few replies by fans on it. However, former IC Champion Ricochet decided to respond with a cryptic yet open answer. His reply to the question amounted to the eyes emoji hinting that he had set his sights on Gunther’s belt.

Gunther has crossed the 600-day mark as the champion and fans believe that it is time for a new Intercontinental Champion. While Ricochet could emerge as a worthy contender, he has spent time out on the sidelines lately. On the November 6, 2023, episode of Monday Night Raw, The King engaged in a battle against The Miz, Bronson Reed, and Ivar to get his chance at Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship title.

However, during the match, he suffered an injury due to which he was declared out of action. According to reports, the star is currently following WWE’s concussion protocol. But this does not mean that he had a concussion. It is a safety protocol from the promotion’s end to ensure no mishaps happen.

The good news for fans is that Ricochet is now cleared to participate. He returned at the 2024 Royal Rumble in the number 28 position. Since he is now cleared to participate, what challenges does he have to face if he wants the IC title?

The long road ahead for Ricochet

In Gunther’s latest encounter, Jey Uso went up against the champion for his belt. However, Jey Uso’s chances at victory diminished when Jimmy Uso interrupted the match. While the Main Event Star might take care of his brother, it looks like he still might be on his way to challenge Gunther for the title. Apart from that, released WWE star who now works in indie circuits and former IC Champion, Matt Cardona also wishes to face Gunther at WrestleMania 40.
