CM Punk’s tumultuous AEW ride finally came to an abrupt end with the company deciding to fire him for his offensive behavior at All In backstage. Another component of the dispute, Jack Perry, is currently bearing suspension for an indefinite period. But it is Tony Khan who has been facing the real consequences in terms of a marred image of his company and himself. The latest one to sting the AEW oss amidst the ongoing hassle is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long.
Long directly pointed fingers at Khan’s lack of firm leadership skills for bringing this misery to the mix. He even referred to Vince McMahon’s aggressive authority to justify his stance.

Despite nailing a spectacular All In at Wembley Stadium, London, AEW couldn’t escape flak. Everything was going great when Perry’s match with Hook at Zero Hour kicked in and the former called out Punk for not allowing him to do a spot with a glass at AEW Collision. It quickly rose into a heated altercation, backstage with two parties ruthlessly dismantling each other.
This led to a suspension for Perry and an exit of Punk by AEW’s internal committee. However, according to WWE legend, Vince McMahon’s handling of the same situation would have been different.
The 75-year-old Hall of Famer upheld Vince McMahon’s leadership supremacy to point out big loopholes in Khan’s strategy.
During a recent interview, Long noted, ”If he had been told by Vince McMahon to not use real glass, that wouldn’t have ever happened. And if he’d disobeyed Vince McMahon’s orders, that’s not to do something, just like you said. As soon as he walked through that curtain, he’d have been fired. No suspension, none of that stuff.”
”But I think that if he was in the WWE, the leadership there would have certainly put him in his place and he would have never made a mistake like that. If somebody tells you don’t do something, then you don’t do it. So I think that just comes from the leadership in AEW,” the WWE veteran continued articulating McMahon’s influence over the roster.
However, Khan’s leadership quality is not the only thing about him that garnered doubt. Another WWE veteran also undermined Khan’s monetary power, comparing it to WWE.
Another WWE veteran devalued Tony Khan’s monetary worth
AEW-WWE comparison has always been a highly swallowable content for wrestling buffs for the past four years. Despite Khan topping the world’s biggest wrestling promotion in some instances, convincing the WWE world about their superiority is still a far cry.

Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle recently reaffirmed the most common stance of the WWE Universe that says they’re still sitting atop the business no matter what.
Speaking on the Grue Rume Show, Angle noted that WWE is monetarily much ahead of the AEW. While Khan is also doing well financially, it’s not comparable to the WWE.
Now, we need to see when and how Tony Khan’s AEW finds a good ground to defend these claims, putting the recent controversies to rest.
