A report in Ringside News cites an unknown injury to the former WWE champion for his on-screen absence since ‘Mania. McIntyre was also unable to appear at a promotional gig for the Cricket Wireless Store and Gunther appeared in his stead. It is unclear when and if he could return to WWE programming.

This news comes after there have been concerns raised by many fans on McIntyre’s future in the wrestling juggernaut. The injury has surely put a dampener on those expecting the former 3MB member to perform if he decides to discontinue his association with WWE. There have been reports doing the rounds over his possible departure from the company and linking him with AEW.

The performer has transformed whatever has been given to him into gold. It seems he is not happy with the direction his character is taking and not to mention the monetary aspect of his deal.

The unexpected injury couldn’t have come at the wrong time for both parties. Drew McIntyre would have liked to display to WWE what they could miss out on. And the promotion would have hoped to benefit from the wrestler’s impressive screen presence if he were to leave. There is still time for an agreement to be reached, and the fans hope that McIntyre will continue to dazzle with his in-ring ability in WWE.
