John Cena returned to SmackDown on September 1st and has appeared consistently on the show since then. He has even worked on a few dark show matches for WWE, which is commendable given his stature and busy schedule. The WGA strike has helped Cena devote some time towards WWE and give back to his wrestling fans before retirement.

But the major cause behind his WWE return is to uplift upcoming talents in the current roster. So, what are WWE’s plans to use John Cena? Will they continue engaging him against The Bloodline or elevate new talents in the roster?

John Cena might probably be going through his last run at WWE, so fans and WWE are trying their best to take the best out of him. WWE is building up multiple storylines with John Cena at the helm of it. At Fastlane, he teamed up with LA Knight to take on The Bloodline, while there are backstage talks of him turning heel and feuding against Cody Rhodes.

However, the biggest question remains for the WWE creative to decide which direction they should go with Cena. Let us explore the most probable options WWE can take with John Cena.

1. Feud against The Bloodline: John Cena’s last SummerSlam match was against The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns which also marked the return of Brock Lesnar. Although his last feud was used to elevate the status of The Tribal Chief, it also helped build the feud between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

WWE might try doing something similar this time around when John Cena feuds with The Bloodline. However, this time around Cena might push Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Hence, he will be facing The Bloodline at the main event of Fastlane with LA Knight.

But the question still lingers, is WWE wasting Cena’s run in feuding him against The Bloodline? Or should they use him in greener patches elsewhere similar to his US title run in 2015?

2. Build-up new stars: John Cena’s last few sporadic appearances have been used to elevate younger talents. His WrestleMania match against Austin Theory helped elevate Theory. At Money in the Bank, he was involved in a segment with Grayson Waller.

Now, he is teamed up with LA Knight while Cena will be standing beside former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes in his match against Bron Breakker. His match against The Bloodline will also promote Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso (as a singles performer).

Considering John Cena’s limited time with WWE as the WGA strike is over, will WWE be able to use Cena most effectively?
