Ricochet has likely wrestled his last match in WWE after information came to light, suggesting that he won’t be re-signing with WWE. Many people have already speculated that he may join AEW, although there has been no official announcement from any party. Ricochet’s switch to AEW appears to be accompanied by a recent spicy update.
Jon Alba just appeared on a notable podcast to discuss all things wrestling. where he talked about Ricochet’s prospects in pro wrestling. The notable wrestling insider has indicated that Ricochet is more likely to go to AEW since there are more unique matchups for him that have the potential to cement themselves as barnburners.
Alba also discussed one of these matchups, which may be Ricochet vs Will Ospreay. He believes that both wrestlers can get the most out of each other. Alba also mentioned the potential of MJF and Ospreay facing off if the matchup with Ricochet doesn’t come to fruition.

Jon Alba said on the podcast, “Yeah, I mean, I certainly think he’s headed to AEW, and that’s a match you absolutely could do at All In. My gut says it’s actually a match they do at All Out a couple of weeks later. I think you’re going to end up seeing probably Will versus…Ospreay’s got to have a big match at All-In. And I think if you’re not going to do Ricochet, probably a guy like MJF makes the most sense to me. And that would add a lot of equity in MJF chasing the International Championship as well, to see a guy at his level wanting to target Will Ospreay.”
Nevertheless, what shape could the high flyer’s career take if he makes the switch to AEW? Will he reprise his existing moniker or adopt a new one?
Will Ricochet have to take up a new mantle if he makes the move to AEW?
Ricochet making the move to AEW could prove monumental. The high flyer has to be commended for leaving the comfort of his existing surroundings and the company of his fiancee behind. The former WWE Intercontinental champion has a plethora of contenders vying to face him. Ospreay and Swerve Strickland have indicated their desire to face him. But one question remains in the minds of the wrestling faithful. They have expressed curiosity as to what name he could go by. Chances are that he won’t don a new name at AEW because Ricochet is a name that the wrestler owns.
This implies that WWE has no rights to the name, and the wrestler may use the name Ricochet wherever he wants. This news paved the way for elated fans as they closely associated the high flyer with his existing identity. AEW can capitalize on the preexisting appeal and fame of the name to build up their feuds if they sign the star. What do you make of the potential matchups that he could engage with at AEW?
