A wrestler deals with severe mental stress apart from experiencing physical pain when he gets inside the ring. However, fans get to see the best version of them in the squared circle. But to showcase their caliber, wrestlers like Ric Flair have gone through intense mental trials and tribulations. And to overcome it, sometimes they had to rely on dangerous drugs.

A similar incident happened with The Nature Boy, where he felt relieved after having a few doses of Xanax, a drug that his Lt. son also used to have. For those who don’t know what Xanax is, it is a well-known brand name for alprazolam. It is most commonly prescribed to treat anxiety and panic disorders. However, it’s not recommended without the prescription of a doctor, yet Flair consumed it. Surprisingly, Flair’s wife handed him the medication, despite having no obvious reason for possessing it.

Flair said, “Believe it or not, my wife gave it to me. And I’ve thought about over the years what the hell was she taking Xanax for.”

One day when Flair was feeling anxious, and his wife asked what happened, he replied honestly. Soon enough, she gave him a drug.

I took it, felt normal, I said what is that, it’s a Xanax, and I never even thought to ask her, why she was taking it,” the 74-year-old added.

After this revelation, it’s still a big question that why Flair’s wife had to have Xanax. Was she going through some anxiety issues or there was something else going on? Neither the wrestling nor we know what was the reason behind it. However, this also reminds us of the unfortunate death of Ric Flair’s 25-year-old son due to a drug overdose.
