Gunther hates losing, and so does Damian Priest. The epic battle of ego demands a lot of attention from Cleveland tonight. But before the Ring General and the reigning World Heavyweight Champion looked each other in the eyes, a significant sight caught the crowd off guard. Gunther was seen selling some early bruises ahead of calling for the fight. What does it depict?

Last week on Raw, chaos played out between the Judgement Day leader Finn Balor and the aspiring world champion Gunther. The 36-year-old managed to get the upper hand after a tiff fight. Can we count it as an early hint of WWE planning something big for Balor and Gunther going forward? Only time will drop the mystery down.

Gunther made history in Cleveland, becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion

However, regardless of the storyline he will be pitched for, Gunther had his dream come true moment at Cleveland. It was just as quintessential as he would have thought. He slayed Damian Priest in style to become the new champion in the house.

‘It’d be the biggest achievement of my career. I think that’s quite obvious. It’s the world’s heavyweight champion. It’s the biggest prize there is to win in this sport. That would be a huge accomplishment, but also a big responsibility and challenge. That’s what I’m here for. I want to be in the mix with the best and in the ring with all of them. To prove myself in that regard.” the real-life Walter Hahn noted in a recent interview.

Also, SummerSlam had a special memory attached to the Ring General. He was never a kid growing up watching WrestleMania as a core WWE fan. It has always been SummerSlam for the 36-year-old. He fell in some with the breathtaking match of Bret Hart-British Bulldog in 1992. The love only escalated with WWE bringing the show to England, adding a lot of spice and intrigue to it. Starting off a different path of legacy from the same SummerSlam stage must have felt nostalgic for the WWE saltwort.
