WWE signed Odyssey Jones long ago but did not quite use his talent to its fullest potential. The wrestler became a recurring face during house shows and dark matches, but hardly ever cut a segment in front of the camera. In April this year, the promotion drafted Jones to appear on Monday Night Raw but his time in the spotlight didn’t arrive.
This time around, Jones wasn’t even used in dark matches or house shows. As a fan, you are allowed to be confused as to why the company is treating Jones this way. However, we may have found a likely reason.
Odyssey Jones was likely never a part of creative’s plans

After several months of negligible screen time, fans must have sensed something was coming their way when the big guy the red brand acquired the superstar. Little did they know that this would prevent him from showing up at all. The official reason behind this strategy is unknown since he wasn’t being preserved for a big storyline, anyway. A plausible explanation is that the creative department didn’t have any plans for him to begin with. They probably drafted him to Raw, thinking that they would figure it out along the way, but never understood what could be the result.

A fan on Reddit also revealed that the audience present in house shows and dark matches compared him to Mark Henry, but not in a good way. He was considered a knock-off version of the WWE legend. This might change now since Jones showed up to help out ‘The New Day’ and showed incredible feats of strength against ‘The Authors of Pain’ on Raw 08/05.

The viewers were excited to see him on TV after a long time. Hopefully, he won’t be compared to the “Sexual Chocolate” anymore because his son is also debuting soon to take this title off of him.

Several days ago, the retired WWE star was present in Cleveland to appear during the Remix Rumble in the city as a guest appearance. His son, who is a collegiate wrestler, was also there. He introduced himself to the crowd after taking the mic from his father. This is when Jacob Henry teased the excited wrestling fans under the roof. He revealed that all of those who wish to see him officially in the ring for the first time should keep their eyes out for WWE. The “NXT” chants grew louder and the Mark’s son indirectly confirmed that this would be his first time entering a pro wrestling company. Hopefully, he will get to carry the family “Henry” name.

Moreover, he will then be the rightful heir of the “Sexual Chocolate” moniker instead of Odyssey Jones. Meanwhile, Jones can continue to build his own legacy on the main roster now that he has been introduced to the crowd on the last Raw. Maybe the creative department has a plan in mind for him this time around and will keep him with the New Day for a while, if not for a long time. It would make sense since he risked himself to fend off that heel tag team.
