Is Jey Uso being set up for failure despite being the fan favorite for MITB?

Jey Uso has become a fan-favorite ever since he turned face after leaving The Bloodline. He even won the tag team championships for a while alongside the reigning Universal Champion. However, the wrestler’s dream of becoming a singles champion may not come to reality anytime soon. Because he most likely won’t clinch the Money in the Bank match this weekend.

The match card is filled with top stars competing in the ladder match to steal away the briefcase for themselves. The opportunity to cash it in on a champion and etch their name in WWE folklore is an alluring prospect. However, this shortcut to glory might not transpire for Jey Uso this year due to a couple of reasons.

Foremost, the “Main Event” superstar is being booked by industry insiders and fans to be an integral part of The Bloodline ‘Civil War’ storyline. Roman Reigns will eventually return to find The Bloodline in shambles. When he confronts Solo Sikoa regarding the same, chances are, the former leader could get kicked out of the family stable, much like the rest of his loyal followers. This will force The Tribal Chief to have a change of heart and reconcile with The Usos. Including the one who has already turned babyface on Monday Night Raw. So, if he wins the briefcase and is involved in a storyline of his own, WWE may have trouble including him in the civil war feud that may start some weeks after the said PLE.

Apart from this, reports also suggest that Uncle Howdy may come after Jey Uso. A few hints in the past have pointed toward this possibility. If this transpires, it would be the faction’s first feud in WWE following their debut. Hence, WWE may want to reserve Jey Uso just for this storyline if the Bloodline arc doesn’t pan out. And you wouldn’t blame the former WWE tag team champion for avoiding the WyattSick6 as he did on Raw this week.

How the WWE is trying to sell this storyline between the Wyatt 6 and Jey Uso is pointing toward the fact that he might get involved with them somewhere down the line. Recent developments during live shows and some past social media posts suggest that perhaps the Stamford-based company wanted to do this all along. The ‘Yeet’ star uploaded a tweet several weeks ago after his match at Backlash in which he claimed that the ‘fireflies’ belonged to him now. He further referenced Bo Dallas’ late brother using a hashtag.

This was when it was first speculated that Jey Uso may be the first rival that Uncle Howdy targets upon his return. Later on, they hijacked his victory celebration on Monday Night Raw 06/17 as the lights and music cut off abruptly when the Wyatt 6 arrived at Corpus Christi. Now, on Raw 07/01, they hijacked yet another promo that Jey Uso was delivering. Moreover, fans spotted him hiding under the apron, cowering away from the paranormal stable.

Do you think Jey Uso has odds in his favor for MITB? Or will the wrestler conitnue with either of these storylines?
