Did Jade Cargill make the right call leaving psychology for wrestling? What would you have done?

Jade Cargill, who joined WWE in September 2023, made her in-ring debut during the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble. Since then, Cargill has made an immediate impact on WWE, establishing herself as a top-tier wrestler in the company roster despite the short time she has been here. She soon became the Women’s tag team champion with Bianca Belair before losing the titles to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. However, they surely are looking forward to getting back their throne at Bash in Berlin.

But do you know that this isn’t Cargill’s first run working within the WWE? Well, that’s because, in 2019, WWE invited her to be part of a tryout at the Performance Center. A test that Jade passed without problems, although she rejected the offer made by the Stamford-based promotion. What would Jade’s life be like if she had signed with WWE in 2019 instead of 2023? Soon she started wrestling at the AR Fox academy, but when Mark Henry discovered her, he advised her to go train with Heath Miller and Richard Borger, a change that made Jade evolve considerably.

After that she went to the QT Marshall Factory and the rest is history. However, this isn’t the only less-known aspect of the WWE superstar. As there are things from her past that many WWE fans might not be aware of. Jade stood out both in school and in college thanks to basketball. Her great height and talent allowed her teams to win titles. Even when she was in college, she participated in important tournaments, even projecting her to a professional career in sports.

Her time at Jacksonville University was not only for sports, as she also managed to get a degree in social sciences. Cargill also continued studying until she obtained a master’s degree in child psychology. In fact, she worked with foster children as a child psychologist until 2019. But why did she leave her psychology job to get into the WWE? Well, that was because of her aforementioned love for sports. On X, she revealed back in February 2024, “I became a child psychologist at 24. Something I wanted my entire life. Was cool, loved my job. Then wanted to do something else 😬. Life.”

However, in an interview with ‘The State of Florida Sports’ podcast, the former AEW star also revealed that she believed she wasn’t “mentally mature” enough to be in the position that she was. Cargill further revealed how that job was emotionally straining as “take your heart out of your chest.” when working with child psychology. Well, fans would be glad that she quit her profession as a psychologist. Else, we couldn’t have gotten such a dominant superstar on the WWE roster. However, Cargill is still a student in her mind, one that is constantly learning from her peers.

Since her debut in WWE, Bianca Belair and Naomi were the first superstars with whom Jade Cargill shared a team in the ring and they already had a variety of matches against different opponents. The former AEW wrestler is learning a lot from her teammates. While being interviewed on Casual Conversations with The Classic, Jade Cargill shared the learned advice she received from Bianca Belair and Naomi.

The superstar claimed that The EST taught her patience and how to coexist in the environment, while she considers the former TNA wrestler someone very professional within WWE. “I’ve learned from Bianca how to coexist.” “We’re both usually on a solo run, so I’ve been able to be selfless. She’s been able to be selfless, and just working with one another and listening for one another and what they want and their desires in the match. That’s one thing I’ve learned is patience and she’s learned patience as well, because we’re so used to doing our own thing.”

“If I need any type of sound advice, like some hard advice from a woman, that’s the woman I go to because she’s the type of woman like I am,” Cargill stated regarding Naomi. “I’m not letting anybody mess with my bag. I’m going to go out there, do the work, keep my head down, and be a pro at all of this. She is definitely a pro at all of this. She does it with grace.” The truth is that Jade Cargill still has a lot to learn in WWE and both Bianca Belair and Naomi are playing an important role in her development within the company.
