Can Jacob Fatu overcome his prison past and injury to become a top WWE star?

Jacob Fatu was injured last week at the WWE SummerSlam. The member of the new faction of The Bloodline attacked Cody Rhodes in the match for the Undisputed WWE Championship and later threw himself on top of a table, a blow that caused a leg injury. Since then, WWE has kept him off the schedule, and he has not starred in any of the run-ins with Roman Reigns.

The Stamford-based promotion has not revealed any details on his condition as of yet. However, during the latest episode of SmackDown, commentator Corey Graves confirmed the injury of Jacob Fatu, who had been seen with a foot brace a few days ago. The reigning Undisputed WWE champion, Cody Rhodes, then joked about what happened during the biggest night of the summer. He called out Solo Sikoa for not finishing his job, and he also injured Jacob Fatu.

Fatu, in fact, did not show up on SmackDown with Solo Sikoa, who was accompanied only by Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. So, a question that looms over the minds of fans is: was the Samoan Werewolf actually injured, or was it a kayfabe injury for a storyline?

But it seems like there is a third option as well, which could be true. What is that option? Well, another reason why Jacob Fatu might be missing action could be his troubled past.

Jacob Fatu’s prison past restricts his WWE appearances

WWE is all geared up for their next PLE, Bash in Berlin on August 31. The PLE is set to be a spectacle; however, it seems like Jacob Fatu would be missing the action. All because he had a prior run-in with the law that led to his arrest. The Samoan Werewolf was arrested when he was 18 years old for armed robbery. As a result, he had to spend time behind bars. During the WWE Money in the Bank, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that the WWE employed a top-tier immigration law firm to ensure Fatu’s clearance to visit and perform in Canada.

However, things won’t be as easy as back then when the Stamford-based promotion moves to Berlin, which is stricter when it comes to immigration laws. So it seems like the WWE is keeping Fatu out because of a Kafka injury to keep him out until Bash in Berlin. However, some reports believe he might return by the end of August instead.

A major update on Fatu’s return

Mike Johnson, a journalist for PW Insider, has offered new information on the matter. According to Johnson, Jacob Fatu will return to action at the end of August, in about a week or two. Although no details have been given, a person who works in WWE has informed the journalist that last Friday, on Friday Night SmackDown, it was commented in the locker room that the injury was not of major importance and that the board was calm about the wrestler’s physical condition.

On the other hand, Dave Meltzer, a journalist for Wrestling Observer, has pointed out that WWE wants to keep Jacob Fatu out of the way not only because of the injury issue but also because it is in the interest of him being away from Roman Reigns until he can face him later. So, what do you think? What could be the reason behind Fatu’s absence? Let us know in the comments.
