AEW recently witnessed the departure of a wrestling legend from their roster when he finally decided to put an end to his in-ring career. However, it seems that the company could be losing more employees soon. Some reports on the promotion’s backstage happenings suggest that another superstar could be facing an absence from the company too.

The superstar in question is none other than Sammy Guevara. The controversy related to the superstar started a couple of weeks before AEW Revolution 2024. If you wish to know why the AEW superstar was suspended by the company, then you may want to read along.

Before CM Punk was ultimately fired from the promotion, his journey also started with many suspensions. A similar situation is playing out with Guevara, as he was suspended following his No Disqualification match against Powerhouse Hobbs at AEW Collision on 02/24. But this is not the only reason fans are suspecting for his suspension.

A few days before losing to Hobbs, Sammy Guevara defeated Jeff Hardy at AEW Dynamite #135. During one of the spots, Hardy received a knee to his nose, breaking it in the process. The wrestling legend insisted to the referee not to stop the match.

Fightful recently reported that the concussion protocol wasn’t followed through. While this could have been the reason for Guevara’s suspension, he was still seen wrestling against Hobbs a few days later. Since we haven’t seen him return to the ring following the Collision loss, some believe that “Showtime Sammy” will be out sell the beating from Hobbs as a storyline reason to explain his absence due to suspension.

There is no clear indication from AEW management regarding the reason for the suspension, nor do we know the date when the star will return to the ring. However, fans have been kept updated on the injury suffered by the tag team legend.

Tony Khan’s top star calms down worrying fans

A few days ago, Matt Hardy took to his social media account to post about his brother and calm down the fans worrying about the injury. He uploaded a video message for the public recently and claimed that an important and necessary surgery has already wrapped up and everything seems to be going fine.

So, if Guevara has to serve suspension until Hardy is ready to come back, then that day might come soon. But for now, everything seems a bit hazy. This is the first time AEW will be without it’s four pillars with MJF out with injury, Jack Perry and Sammy Guevara suspended and Darby Allin on hiatus to climb Mount Everest.
