Jade Cargill has become a force to reckon with in the women’s division of WWE. Although she hasn’t performed much as a single entity since her debut in the leading wrestling promotion, the tag matches are enough to do justice to her in-ring prowess.

Before she packed her stuff and moved to the Stamford-based company, Cargill was a feared face on the AEW roster. Even before showing up for Tony Khan’s promotion, she had received a contract from WWE but decided to turn it down. What was the reason for the same, you ask? Let’s find out.

In 2020, Cargill joined the ranks of the All Elite. Two years later, she showed up in the podcast, Talk is Jericho. While conversing with the wrestling legend Chris Jericho, Cargill revealed how she had previously received a contract from WWE, but had to turn it down.

“I came [to AEW], I got the experience, and I felt calm. I could call the owner of our company and talk to him. I wasn’t just a number. So, that made me feel comfortable,” explained The Storm. She revealed how she was a part of a tryout in 2019 and was later offered a contract from WWE. She turned it down because AEW seemed more personal and authentic to her than WWE at the time.

There is this unwritten ritual between AEW and WWE stars that they switch places with each other when the environment or contract doesn’t suit them. Another star from the leading wrestling company ended up in AEW recently.

WWE loses a star to Tony Khan’s contract

Ricochet‘s contract with his last workplace ended back in June 2024. This was when rumors rose up about the wrestler’s potential AEW signing. However, nothing was confirmed until the zero hour. During the gauntlet match at AEW All In 2024, the former WWE star showed up as one entrant. The crowd chanting the countdown to his entry had no idea who would walk out of the backstage.

Everyone went wild when they caught a glimpse of what was written on the background screen. The rumor had finally come to life.

AEW also made sure to monetize it as quickly as they could. The promotion publicized his merchandise soon after his debut but gave him a brand-new moniker and tagline. One thing that you would want to pay attention to is the tagline on his newly released T-shirt, which reads “Outta this world.”
