Vince McMahon is one of the biggest celebrities in the world right now. The way he transformed WWE into the biggest wrestling promotion company today is absolutely praiseworthy. He is currently the chairman and chief executive officer of WWE. But as they say, behind every successful man, there stands a woman.

Similarly, Vince McMahon’s wife, Linda McMahon, has been with him right from the beginning of his journey to stardom. Linda McMahon provided constant support to Vince in this special journey as the WWE chairman.

How did Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon get to know each other?

Vince knew Linda McMahon from a young age. Linda was born in New Bern, North Carolina, and her parents worked at a Marine Corps base. Vince and Linda’s mothers were friends and worked in the same place. Thus, Vince got to meet Linda when she was 13.

A few years later, Vince and Linda got married on August 25, 1966, after they have dated each other for a long time in high school.


In 1970, the couple gave birth to Shane McMahon. Four years later, they gave birth to their daughter, Stephanie McMahon. Both Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon have been part of WWE’s business. They even won Championships in WWE.

The road to success was not at all easy for the WWE chairman and Linda McMahon. Prior to joining his father’s company, WWF, Vince worked as a traveling salesman from 1968 to 1971. Linda McMahon also did the job of a receptionist at Covington & Burling, a corporate law firm.

However, the couple suffered financially, and in 1976, they even filed for bankruptcy and Vince McMahon had to do a 90-hour-a-week job to sustain himself. Thus, it will not be wrong if we say that Vince McMahon suffered a lot before becoming a celebrity.

Linda McMahon’s journey in WWE

In 1979, Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon experienced a massive turnaround in fortune. Vince McMahon purchased the Cape Cod Coliseum. Apart from holding wrestling matches, the couple also organized hockey and other sports. Soon after that, Linda, along with her husband Vince McMahon, established Titan Sports, Inc. in 1980. After a couple of years, they successfully took charge of WWF’s parent company, the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, from Vince McMahon’s father.

That was the start of something special. Linda was selected as the WWF President in 1993. Four years later, she became the CEO of the company. She was particularly very good in product merchandising and took charge of many deals for the company.

She played a vital role in securing WWF’s TV deal with Viacom in 2000. She even initiated many civic programs such as SmackDown! Your Vote and Get R.E.A.L. Thus, it will not be wrong if we say that Linda helped Vince in making WWE one of the biggest wrestling promotions.

Linda McMahon even appeared in some of WWE’s storylines. But following her appointment to the Connecticut State Board of Education, Linda McMahon left her role in WWE back in 2009.
