Over the last few years, many celebrities have tested the energy drink market coming up with their own brands. They are usually targeted at the teenage and young adult population. Internet celebrities Logan Paul and Olajide Olatunji aka KSI have also been among those who tried their luck in the business. They started an energy drink brand back in 2022 by the name of PRIME. It proved to be a massive hit amongst their intended audience which happened to be the teenage demographic. Recently WWE legend Ric Flair also came up with his energy drink named “Woooo!”, which is based on his iconic catchphrase.
It gained a lot of popularity among the younger target audience. However, while these celebrities were busy going by textbook and were not taking any risks, Dwayne Johnson with his ZOA energy drink proved why he is ahead of the curve.
Dwayne Johnson emerges victorious

Dwayne Johnson was in conversation with Jeff Conway of Forbes ahead of the launch of his new product under the ZOA brand. He was accompanied by Dave Renzi, Chief Innovation Officer at ZOA, and Dany Garcia, Johnson’s ex-wife, manager, business partner, and Chief Visionary Officer at ZOA. Upon being asked about their journey with ZOA, they shared how the tides have been in their favor. “We’ve seen a wonderful, consistent growth, year over year. We have 42,000 distribution points at this time. We’re up 28% year-to-date on gross sales.”, Garcia said.
Garcia said, She further added, “We’ve seen our consumer shift – we were a little heavier male and now we’ve seen a number of female consumers coming into the market, which has been really exciting to us.” According to her, this in particular is a big milestone for the company. Amidst being a pro wrestler and a Hollywood star, The Rock also happens to be an entrepreneur. He has many business ventures and ZOA happens to be one of them.
Founded in 2021 by Johnson and Molson Coors Beverage, this venture quickly became popular. Although it had the brand factor of The Brahma Bull himself, the beverage company already had a name for themselves. The trajectory of the company has been really good as described by the founders. But what could be the reason why Paul and Flair are not able to make as much profit as Dwayne Johnson?
Johnson becomes the champion, again
One of the leading contributing factors to ZOA’s success is Johnson’s star power. Ric Flair and Logan Paul have their fair share of fans too. But in comparison to Johnson, they might be falling short. Also, the Hollywood star is known to have the Midas touch. Every business he ventures into turns out to be a success. This can also be attributed to his marketing team.

Another factor could be the audience. Flair and Paul were busy going after the textbook audience, thus having a competition amongst themselves. Usually, energy drinks are catered for younger audiences and they are promoted mostly at e-sports events. Due to this, the target audience ends up becoming young boys who are into video games. But the 51-year-old star tried to look for a wider audience. This ended up breaking that barrier and his target audience now includes a wider demographic.
