Is Jacob Henry the next big thing in WWE, or just riding on his father's coattails?

Mark Henry dedicated many years of his life to entertaining wrestling fans, and now he seems to be passing the torch to his young one to fill his shoes. The WWE legend has two children, Joanna Henry, and Jacob Henry. While Joanna is walking a path completely different from that of her father, his son Jacob likes to wrestle.

The 18-year-old is currently a college student but his skills, dedication, and blessed genes from his father have landed him a contract with WWE. This is something that he revealed at a recent event.

When should we expect Mark Henry’s son to debut?

On the 1st of August, Thursday, Mark Henry made a guest appearance at Remix Rumble in Cleveland. His son Jacob was present at the event and hijacked his set to announce something important for all wrestling fans to hear. He took the mic and announced that he had recently signed with WWE. “You guys should be the first to know that I’m going to be a future superstar and it has been put on paper. I have officially signed a deal with the WWE,” announced the legend’s son confidently. He teased us further by adding, “It’s official. I’m locked in. And I’m here.

Jacob is a student at the University of Oklahoma and is also a collegiate wrestler there. This is probably what landed him a chance to show his skills to the Stamford-based company. However, considering his commitment to the University, he may not show up on either the developmental or the main roster anytime soon. Instead, he may spend some time at the WWE Performance Center first.

Some stars have debuted in WWE at a very young age, so fans can always stay hopeful for the next chapter in Jacob’s life. Even when he shows up, there’s a chance that WWE won’t use his family name to push him up the hill. This is evident through their approach with Bron Breakker.

Will Jacob not receive Mark Henry’s last name?

Son of Rick Steiner and the nephew to Scott Steiner, Bron Breakker first joined WWE as an NXT star. After dominating the developmental roster, he was drafted onto Monday Night Raw to cause chaos. Despite the legendary legacy that the “Steiner” last name holds, WWE pitched a brand-new name for Bron Breakker. This is something that Breakker didn’t want, according to his uncle. However, Scott revealed that he thinks it is better to let WWE make this decision by themselves without interfering too much as they might already have a plan for the future.

On the other hand, Jacob Henry could also end up getting stripped of his last name. Despite the legacy that his father’s name carries, we may not see it getting used when he debuts in the promotion due to similar reasons as to why Bron wasn’t given the Steiner name. So, when Jacob debuts, be prepared to see him in a new and reworked gimmick, completely different from his father. While some fans might like it that way, others will probably prefer him to stick to ‘Henry’.
