Ever since he began his wrestling hiatus following WrestleMania XL, fans have speculated that Dwayne Johnson could return at SummerSlam on 3rd August to start another storyline or continue where he last left off. The injury that he endured during his MMA training has sowed doubts in the minds of the WWE faithful. In a recent Instagram post, Johnson showed us how badly bruised his elbow appears to be. The caption revealed, “No extensive tissue damage. Ruptured bursa sac that will eventually heal. I’ve had much worse, and as always let pain – and tequila – be the guide 😈 Back to work.”

For most people, a ruptured bursa sac on the elbow can take three to six months to heal. So, judging by the average recovery time, we can still expect the “Final Boss” to show up at SummerSlam. That is if the WWE chooses to book him in that timeframe. Nevertheless, any return to WWE would only come after the completion of his obligations to his pending Hollywood projects.

The wrestler put a hashtag in the caption that suggested that the injury happened while training for the shooting of The Smashing Machine. This will stop the filming crew from being able to shoot the fight scenes that he was supposed to do. However, there must be scenes where Johnson doesn’t have to engage in high-octane action scenes. The crew might film such scenes during the recovery period and hold the leftover ones until The Brahma Bull has fully healed.
So, after the given six weeks, he may get busy with the project again, hurdling the possibility of an appearance during SummerSlam. His other upcoming films could add to the hectic schedule, making it further difficult for fans to spot him during the August PLE. Do you think we will get to see Dwayne Johnson in the wrestling promotion at SummerSlam this year after his injury?
