In an interview with Ryan Satin of Fox Sports on the Out of Character podcast (h/t: Felix Upton of Ringside News), the former WWE United States Champion admitted he thought he would retire years ago at 44. He said, “I remember thinking, ‘I’ll be 40 years old when I retire. That’s when I’m gonna retire.’ So I was dead wrong, by the way.”

The Phenomenal One claims to have signed his last contract with WWE

In 2019, in an interview with Newsweek, Styles claimed that the contract he signed with WWE in 2019 was his last one. Well, the duration of the contract is clearly not known, but WWE will do almost anything to keep a star like AJ Styles for another year or two when his current contract expires.


During the interview, Styles also claimed WWE to be the best place for him and his career. He said, “This is the perfect place for me to be. It’s family-oriented, I have no problem taking my family to the shows. It’s a PG product, which I enjoy. I’m in the best place I can be for my career.”

AJ Styles has been working with WWE since 2016. But The Phenomenal One has some significant achievements in his name during this short period. Let’s also look at some of the best moments of AJ Styles’ WWE career.

The Phenomenal One has won the WWE Championship twice, the United States Championship thrice, and the Intercontinental Championship once. AJ Styles has even won the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship once along with and his tag team partner, Omos.

Well, Styles also got the Match of the Year 2020 Slammy Award match for his Boneyard match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36.

Coming at almost the end of his career, it might not be long before we have to bid goodbye to this phenomenal superstar. But we hope that AJ Styles gets a few more shots at the WWE Universal Championship and the WWE Championship before he retires. His career has truly been the story of a champion.
