John Cena in Call of Duty—Is this the ultimate crossover we've been waiting for?

Since its release in 2003, Call of Duty has become one of the most iconic and successful video game franchises of all time. With over 400 million copies sold globally, the series has defined the first-person shooter genre, offering an immersive and action-packed gaming experience. Now, in a move that promises to excite both players and wrestling fans, Call of Duty has announced a collaboration with WWE for the upcoming season of Modern Warfare III and Warzone.

Through its account on X, Call of Duty revealed that this special collaboration will be part of season 5, which will be released on July 24 of this year. In this way, WWE joins other franchises that have collaborated with Call of Duty. It should be remembered that iconic series such as The Boys and The Walking Dead have had a participation in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. As for the superstars who will appear in the game, it remained a mystery for a long time as the teaser video just shows silhouettes. However, now we finally know that 16x World Champion John Cena is one of the superstars who will be featured in the game!

As for his role, he would most likely be lending his voice and likeness to the game while possibly being an operator skin. He might also appear in their promotional videos like the one that featured Snoop Dogg. One of the perfect opportunities for the WWE to capitalize on Cena’s fame before he finally retires. But do you know that this would not be the first time WWE has collaborated with video games. On other occasions, the wrestling giant has worked with titles as well.

The Stamford-based wrestling giant has often considered video games as a perfect way to connect with the masses. There is a reason why they try their best to make their own WWE 2K series one of the best wrestling games out there for gamers. But they also do not believe in keeping things limited to pro wrestling when it comes to getting some exposure to their superstars. So in order to get some more fans, they have often collaborated with titles such as Rocket League and Rainbow Six Siege.
