Many had thought that they had seen the last of former WWE chairman, Vince McMahon last year. After a flurry of hush money charges against him, he had to step away from all his roles with the promotion. But as his brainchild’s favorite phrase, Never say Never, he crawled back into the fold earlier this year. Not only that, but the former boss also managed to become the director of the board. His unexpected return has brought with it the news of the promotion’s potential sale. And now the latest update states that McMahon is demanding a whopping $9 Billion as a price.

It’s fair to say that most of the WWE fanbase is much happier with the product after the former boss left. Triple H has taken up the mantle of creativity, and his work at the helm has been appreciated by all quarters. However, the news of the company being in the market for a new owner has been doing the rounds for a long time. McMahon has recently come up with an astronomical figure of $9 Billion as the amount, as per Bloomberg.

Whether this gigantic figure attracts any takers in the market remains to be seen. There is no doubt that many people are interested in buying the company both within and outside the US. January saw the almost confirmed sale to the Saudi-backed PIF reported in the news. But the speculations were later denied by WWE.

There have also been rumors that WWE may be sold to a US-based conglomerate. This was fueled by CEO Nick Khan’s meeting with Disney’s top executives last month. Apart from Disney, The Endeavour group which owns the UFC is also interested in doing business.

Vince McMahon should certainly be given credit for the worldwide recognition that WWE gets now. But it was also evident from the last few years of his reign that he had lost the Midas touch. His return to the promotion has always been associated with the possible idea of a sale. The huge amount of $9 Billion that has been quoted by McMahon may be considered high by many.
