A star as popular as Dwayne Johnson will always draw attention, no matter what. The Hollywood star has a massive fanbase holding on for the latest news about him. As such, when The Rock gives an interview or makes a social media post, the fans are quick to show their love and fandom. But, recently the fans put DJ on the spot after he made a blunder while picking his favorite soccer club in England.
The Rock always knows how to strike a chord with the fans and say the right things. The People’s Champ is usually on the right side of the fans. But while answering which English Premier League team he supports, he answered ‘The Pride of Cheshire’, meaning Liverpool Football Club, and didn’t go down well with the soccer fans.

For the unversed, Liverpool FC is based in Merseyside, Lancashire, and not Cheshire in England. These are two completely different regions and Liverpool FC doesn’t have such a nickname. Hence, the fans were quick to spot the blunder and let the former WWE Champion know of his error.
Fans react to Dwayne Johnson making a soccer blunder
Dwayne Johnson recently appeared in an interview with talkSPORT. The Black Adam star talked about his upcoming DC movie and answered a few other questions regarding the England vs USA soccer match at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and whether he would play the James Bond character.
The host also asked DJ whether he supports a soccer team and he replied he does. The Rock said, “The pride of Cheshire” and said he is a Liverpool fan. This resulted in fans calling out The Rock for his blunder as Liverpool FC is based in Merseyside, England, and not Cheshire. On top of it, at least a few might be surprised that The Rock did not pick Manchester United where one of soccer’s greats, Cristiano Ronaldo, is playing.
The Hollywood star’s lack of knowledge about not just his favorite side in soccer, but also geography, did not impress the passionate soccer fans. In fact, they let ‘The Brahma Bull’ know what they thought of it over on Twitter.

A fan used The Rock’s own catchphrase on him with a twist.

Fans continued with their hilarious reactions.

Fans reminded The Rock of his favorite team he picked years ago.
I think he picked a name out of a hat or something on Soccer AM years ago and it was Macclesfield. Think he only remembers the pride of Cheshire part though 😂
No idea why the interviewer thinks Liverpool is in Cheshire…

He’s on about Macclesfield, lads.

Interestingly, Dwayne Johnson once randomly picked the English soccer team Macclesfield Town out of a hat as the team he would support forever. In 2009, he mentioned them as ‘the pride of Cheshire’. Maybe The Rock got the two names mixed up since Macclesfield is the team actually based on Cheshire. And in that case, it’s also a mix-up from the interviewer’s side.
The Rock once acknowledged Cristiano Ronaldo for his look
Although he may have picked Liverpool FC as his favorite soccer team, The Rock once acknowledged Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Liverpool’s arch-rivals Manchester United, for his special look. Ronaldo posted a photo of himself that closely resembled Johnson’s famous avatar from the 90s.

When NBC sports put the two photos side by side, DJ came up with a hilarious roast of himself. He appreciated Ronaldo and claimed he looked like a gangster while making fun of himself by describing himself as a buff lunch lady with a fanny pack.
