Reid Flair was born to Elizabeth Harrell, Nature Boy’s second wife. Two years younger than Charlotte, Reid showed immense promise for a career in pro wrestling. He followed very much in his father’s footsteps and was even set to begin with NWA. Trained by Harley Race, he mostly appeared in matches alongside his brother David Flair.

Behind the picture-perfect parts of his life, he was struggling with drug addiction.

The young wrestler battled with drug addiction and ultimately lost his life on March 29, 2013. He was found unconscious in his bed at a Residence Inn located in the South Park neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. But it wasn’t until the autopsy findings that came out a few months later that revealed the cause of his death.

Reid Flair had left this world due to an overdose of heroin. There were also traces of two prescription tranquilizers: clonazepam and alprazolam.

During a Q&A session in an episode of his podcast To Be The Man someone asked Ric Flair for advice on dealing with the loss of a child. To that question, he grievously replied, “I made some bad choices after Reid passed. I would say to surround yourself with your family and not just stray off and find so much misery within yourself. My problem was that I blamed myself and there’s no way to share that guilt because he was with me.
