Royal Rumble 2021 treated the WWE Universe to an epic match between Drew McIntyre and Bill Goldberg. Ever since their confrontation at WWE Legends Night 2021, fans were waiting for this battle with baited breaths.

Beginning from the entrances to the very end, it was a tremendous success.

The match started off with at top gear with both Superstars wasting no time in bringing out the big guns. While both of them shocked each other with their devastating finishers, they also managed to kick out.

As predicted by fans and critics, McIntyre kept the title in what was a glorified squash match. However, there was an unscripted moment which followed his victory.

Bill Goldberg passed a message to the WWE Champion which connects to the reason Goldberg challenged him – respect.

You passed the test. You deserve it.”

There couldn’t have been a better ending to this feud. Both of them provided the WWE Universe with an extremely entertaining match and didn’t test Goldberg’s stamina more than they should have.

A recap of the feud between Drew McIntyre and Bill Goldberg

Bill Goldberg returned at WWE Legends Night and challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship. His reason was that McIntyre doesn’t respect the legends and, hence, needs to be taught a lesson.

After waiting for a while, McIntyre responded to the challenge and accepted it. According to him, it was Goldberg who needed a lesson in respect, and McIntyre would ensure to teach him the lesson at Royal Rumble 2021.

What happens next?

There’s a good chance this was a onetime feud, and WWE will not revive this in the future. The reason for WWE to book Goldberg against McIntyre was a lack of suitable Superstars on the main roster.

Now that Royal Rumble is done, the company will soon announce McIntyre’s next challenger. If all goes well for the champion, he will defend his title at the ‘Grandest Stage of them all.’
