Towards the end of 2021, Johnson, who plays Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise, gave an explosive interview to CNN. In it, he attacked 55-year-old Diesel as manipulative. The WWE legend was miffed with his senior colleague using his children in a post that he had dedicated to Johnson.
After the release of F9 in 2021, Diesel asked Johnson to come back to the fold. He said he had always considered the 51-year-old as his little brother and his kids referred to Johnson as uncle. Diesel also mentioned deceased cast member Paul Walker and revealed his promise to him. Fulfilling the promise needed Johnson’s return to the franchise.
While it looked like Johnson was not returning to the franchise ever, he surprised everyone with a comeback. Now, while making an official announcement, The Rock tweeted: “Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”

Johnson gives a sneak peek at Hobbs’ future
By now the verdict for Fast X is out and many have praised franchise debutant Jason Momoa for his portrayal of Dante Reyes. The new bad guy in the $6 billion franchise has stolen the spotlight from franchise veterans, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. Hailing his debut, Johnson praised Momoa for doing a “great job” but warned him about the future.
Momoa’s character is set to clash with Johnson’s Hobbs in the next installment. Talking about his role, the 51-year-old said, “It’s not even unfinished business between Dante and Hobbs, it’s business is about to pickup.”
