John Cena enjoys a massive following on Instagram, thanks to his stint as a pro wrestler in the WWE. As a talent, Cena’s gimmick was that of a clean-cut American whose character had similarities to the legendary Hulk Hogan. The fact that Cena was great with kids added to the perception of his persona.

However, several fans were unhappy with Cena, following a recent post on Instagram. Did he inadvertently expose some 20 million Instagram users to indecent content? But before heading to the fan reactions, let’s find out what the 46-year-old posted.

The 16-time World Champion has a healthy following of 19.4 million on Instagram. He, however, doesn’t follow anyone on the site. Cena has shared 3,386 posts so far. But what makes his account unique is the caption-less nature of his posts.

According to Cena’s Instagram bio, “These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.” While this can come across as a good practice at first, it is important to remember that sometimes people like to assume the worst.

His last post (at the time of writing) was from the 1994 American comedy Dumb and Dumber, starring legends Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. The film has acquired a cult status and become a part of pop culture over the years.

The image Cena posted is from the infamous toilet scene that features Daniels using a malfunctioning toilet. As usual, John Cena didn’t provide any context for the post.

But this time, the lack of context led the fans to criticize ‘The Cenation Leader’.

Fans are disappointed with John Cena, doubts the authenticity of the account

As mentioned above, Cena is loved for his clean-cut image. He likes to keep his social media clean as well. But his last Instagram post broke that rule. With the image not sitting well with many followers, they complained about it in the comment section.

One of the comments was subtle with its clever wordplay. The person wrote: “The posts keep getting Dumb & Dumber”. This was both an insult and a reference to the movie Cena took the photo from.

When something unexpected happens, it makes one question if what they’re witnessing is true. This person questioned whether the account was authentic: “Is that real I’d of John Cena?” they asked. Cena would have answered, but then again, he likes to keep his Instagram word free.

The post made a John Cena fan from Tanzania sad. “Really am so disappointed i used to see you like different comet all the way from Tanzania @johncena yr comet very true @_farisfr__@santishapiro”, the fan commented.

Another comment was self-explanatory in nature. “John Cena back at it with the weirdest c**p on the internet,” it read. If you have seen the movie, you know the scene is very weird. If not, watch it at your own discretion.

Other people were straightforward with their queries. One asked, “Yo what is John doing, what is the meaning of this.”

Another wrote, “John what is this.”
