On May 6, both the WWE and the UFC held their respective marquee events. While the Stamford-based promotion hosted its latest edition of Backlash in Puerto Rico, Dana White and his men enthralled the crowd at UFC 288. Shortly after, White made a bold claim at the press conference, which made a journalist question its veracity.

Meanwhile, social media numbers have corroborated the 53-year-old’s statement. This outcome gave him and his relatively new promotion a massive win over the WWE.

What was the claim and what did Dana White say at the UFC 288 post-fight press conference?

Dana White is not just associated with the UFC, he is also the producer of Power Slap, a slap-fighting league. During the presser, White claimed that the show, which premiered earlier this year, received a bigger television deal than The Ultimate Fighter was offered after its inaugural season.

When questioned further, the UFC president said, “It’s f*cking unbelievable. Not only is it unbelievable money-wise, it’s unbelievable as far as social media goes. We are number one in all of sports and when I say all of sports if you take The NFL, the NBA, the NHL, F1, WWE and whom am I forgetting, and add them all together, their numbers don’t compare to Slap’s.”

When a reporter doubted the claim, White said the person was free to have his doubts. Meanwhile, a check on the respective pages of the WWE and Power Slap proved White right.

Take, for example, the first 10 reels/videos on the Instagram accounts of the respective companies. The WWE failed to cross the 10 million mark in total views, while Power Slap raked up nearly 20 million views for the same. Apart from that, WWE’s most viewed video in recent times features the rap sensation Bad Bunny’s match at Backlash 2023 with 4.8 million views. Another video, featuring returning superstar Carlito, garnered 4.6 million views.

Moreover, one of Power Slap’s videos has over 8 million views, and another video recorded nearly six million times. However, there is an anomaly.

Power Slap has just 868K subscribers compared to WWE’s 28.1M Instagram fanbase. One might wonder how a new company is able to beat WWE almost regularly in the social media game. The reason is likely the UFC fanbase. 37 million follow the MMA promotion on Instagram. UFC fans also consume content from Power Slap as the UFC handle also shares content from the new promotion. This practice has enabled the new league to surge ahead of WWE and serve as a win for both the UFC and Power Slap.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Dana White manages to put aside his differences now that the UFC and WWE are set to merge.

WWE Legend reveals Dana White’s alleged anti-WWE stance after the $21 billion Endeavor deal

In April, Vince McMahon hit the headlines as he announced a mega deal with Endeavor that will see his company and the UFC integrate into a mega $21 billion venture. Endeavor CEO Ariel Emanuel and WWE boss Vince McMahon announced the deal. Endeavor is the UFC’s parent company.

Meanwhile, following the deal, WWE legend Kurt Angle revealed Dana White’s anti-WWE stance. In an episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer said “…when you were wrestling; you weren’t allowed to dabble with UFC, UFC weren’t allowed to dabble with WWE.”

Contrary to Kurt Angle’s claims, White has said he’s fine with talents from the UFC jumping ship to the WWE if they want to. With White still claiming a win over the WWE, it remains to be seen how the new deal plays out.
