The current storyline of The Bloodline featured a new chapter on the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown: Tama Tonga, the right-hand man of Solo Sikoa racked up a win in the King of the Ring qualifiers. Tonga and Angelo Dawkins faced each other in the first round of the King of the Ring, a competition that made its comeback after three years. Tama Tonga defeated Angelo Dawkins after hitting him with a Flatliner, taking advantage of Solo Sikoa and Tanga Loa’s attack on Montez Ford. The MFT of the Bloodline, therefore, advances in the tournament ready to represent the group even more worthily in the King of the Ring.

And while Tonga won the match to mark his first win in the WWE, he left a lot to be desired. In what should’ve been the match that makes the headlines, it did make news but for all the wrong reasons. The fans were left with a poor taste after seeing Tonga’s new finisher. According to them, it did not fit his character. Videos of the move soon took over the internet with people slamming the move in the comments. It surely took fans no time to let their thoughts known on social media.

The fans speak up against Tonga’s ‘Flatliner’

The finisher plays an integral part in making or breaking any pro wrestling superstar’s career. Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker, are all known for having some of the most impactful finishers in the WWE. Meanwhile, stars like Naomi and Santino Marella were not taken seriously, and their finishers played a part there as well. So when fans saw Tonga’s finisher they too had a similar thought. As one fan tweeted, Weak. “This would never end a match. Sucks,” while another thought that it looked as if it was Tonga who was feeling the brunt of the move. As he wrote, “Is his finisher getting choke slamed?”

And it wasn’t just the impact of the move that was the issue for the fans. According to a few of them, the fact that it was a stolen finisher is what left them fuming. While it is tough for a superstar to create a new move, to use one that has been overused by R-Truth and Shelton Benjamin felt like a wrong decision. Especially in 2024 according to this user, as he wrote, “The Paydirt in big 2024? 😂🫵”

But let’s not just blame Tonga for it. The flatliner was a part of his arsenal back in NJPW, but his main finisher looked a lot like the RKO. And it must’ve been the reason behind him changing his finisher. As one user pointed out. “Randy Orton made Tama switch to the black wwe wrestler late 2000s special”

But this surely seems to be an issue that the entire Bloodline is facing. As Solo Sikoa, who looks like a brawler could surely do better than the Samoan Spike. While the Usos’ are often called out for using the super kick. A move that is often spammed by other wrestlers as a non-finisher. So this user surely felt that the Bloodline should be given a new move set by now. “Bro the bloodline guys have HORRIBLE finishers Roman I get at this point his finishers are iconic but the Usos, solo, Tonga they are horrible finishers”

Well, hopefully, Tonga would change his finisher soon. It was just his first match and it often takes time for a wrestler to find his groove. Edge switched from the Edge-O-Matic to the spear, and Sheamus moved to the Brogue Kick from the Celtic Cross. So maybe Tonga too would impress fans with a new finisher someday soon.
