WWE has let many talents go in the past for various reasons. While some of the released acts legit regretted not being able to continue with the Stamford-based company for longer, former Diva Maria Kanelis is not one of them.
There has been a lot of talk regarding her release from the company and most of those were derogatory, to say the least. The current AEW star shuts all of them up in a single Twitter shot.

In an elaborate explanation, The 41-year-old noted, ”When I was “released” by WWE the first time in 2010 my contract was up and I refused to sign for one-third what my male contemporaries were making. When I went back, I was told by many people I trusted that WWE had changed. WWE knew we were planning on adding to our family when we resigned. Mike asked for his release. I did not. Mike never went to WWE rehab. Nor did they pay for any rehab. We were lied to many times about our storyline and what direction it was going. I fought back against it to no avail. We were never paid millions of dollars in WWE. We had the average contract for WWE for 6 months. We are not millionaires and we don’t live in a mansion. I hope this helps people separate fact from fiction.”

Release or firing from a professional sphere is supposed to be dramatic for it includes attachment and financial instability. It was no different for Kanellis. She had her second WWE departure back in 2020 and didn’t sought out media attention post that. Finally, on her son’s fourth birthday, the former WWE star reflected on her release from WWE only to garner many assumed distorted viewpoints from fans. She finally cleared the air, revealing the actual force working behind her departure.
The ex-WWE Diva, on the other hand, thinks highly of the AEW‘s loaded female roster.

Both Maria and Mike Kanellis are currently signed to AEW, where Maria often appears on the company’s sister promotion, Ring of Honor. In a year-old interview, she noted how she thinks the AEW Women’s division is finding a more solid pace to thrive. Being a comparative newbie in the house, a good deal may have had doubts about Khan’s ladies’ troops but Maria hasn’t had any. She saw amazing potential in the tons of self-made stars’ unified power.
