Dwayne Johnson is known as a prominent figure in Hollywood. While many movies could be attributed to his success, one that stands out the most is the fifth entry in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast Five. He is known for the character of Luke Hobbs in the universe and was seen going against the protagonists of the series in his first appearance. While it was all scripted, there was a heated, unspoken beef between him and one of his co-stars, Tyrese Gibson.

Fast forward to 2024, and both stars provided an update on their relationship almost seven years since the eighth installment of the series.

In an Instagram post shared by Gibson, he was seen at a party hosted for the chairwoman of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley. While the post contained multiple pictures, the first photo was him standing and smiling with Johnson. In the caption, he wrote, “On this special night, we laughed. We hugged, and, of course, as you look at the first image since we were on a movie set of Fast8, I have not seen The Rock!” It could be assumed that the former co-stars were able to start off their friendship the same way they had left back in 2017 with The Fate of the Furious 8.

Gibson further mentioned the public announcement he had made almost a “year and a half” ago. Fans of the franchise remember him mentioning that the two have talked over the phone “hours over hours”,  clearing up the misunderstandings that they had.

He also mentioned that Fast 10 Part 2 is in the works right now. However, fans might have to wait some time as the Hollywood strike had delayed the writing of the script.

How did the Johnson-Gibson feud start?

As fans could remember, it all started with The Brahma Bull announcing the Fast Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw. While fans were excited to see this retelling of the story, few cast members, including Gibson were not happy about it. He took to social media to call out Johnson for making the franchise about himself.

While many thought the feud might get over soon, it kept going with the two occasionally exchanging words on social media. Things took an extreme turn when it was announced that Johnson would be taking a break from the franchise. However, it was recently announced that Johnson will be returning to the franchise and even had a small, uncredited cameo in the latest installment. What do you think of Gibson’s comments?
