While he maintained that the idea was his own, he did affirm that he knew about another person who did it. Bob Dole was a senator who represented the state of Kansas. He was a famous politician of the Republican Party who was known for speaking in the third person.

The interviewer, in the video, asks The Rock how he got the idea to speak in the third person. She compares it to how Bob Dole speaks. The Rock replied by agreeing with the interviewer’s comparison. The Rock admitted that he knew about Dole and his way of speaking. He even admired the personality of Dole.

He added, “The character of The Rock refers to himself in the third person as very arrogant then and over the edge and in terms of a lot of things actually on the show.”
